Therapy

In general, goal is enrolment of child on cooperative group clinical trial to ensure best possible care is pursued and to add information to the greater knowledge base for future generations of children with leukemia.

Many new protocols being developed with specific targeted therapy (e.g. imatinib for Ph+ALL) but in general the backbone of ALL therapy involves:

1. Induction (1 month)

2. Consolidation (2 months)

3. Interim Maintenance (2 months)

4. Delayed Intensification (2 months)

5. Maintenance (3 month cycles repeated)

  • 2 years of Maintenance for girls
  • 3 years of Maintenance for boys
