Preservation of Male Fertility

When radiation therapy (RT) is delivered, testicular shields can be used (as long as disease is not being shielded) to reduce the RT dose to the testicles.

Chemotherapy can be modified to try to avoid drugs that cause infertility - but this should not be at the expense of efficacy.

If patients are known to be about to receive treatment that has a high risk of associated infertility then sperm banking can be performed before the treatment begins.
